Laurent Castera is a Professor of Hepatology at Beaujon Hospital affiliated with Université Paris-Cité and serves as a Visiting Professor of Medicine at University College London. They were the Secretary General of the European Association for the Study of the Liver from 2015 to 2017 and have contributed significantly to the field as an international lecturer and expert in liver disease. Castera has authored over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals and chaired the first international EASL-ALEH guidelines on non-invasive tests for liver fibrosis. Currently, Castera holds multiple esteemed positions, including Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and a member of the United European Gastroenterology Council.
