Our Story

Good vision changes lives.
Since our beginnings as Take Care Optics in 1985, Apex Optics has grown into one of West Africa's leading independent eye care organisations. Incorporated in 1996, we now provide comprehensive optometric services across The Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. For more than four decades, our purpose has remained unchanged: making professional eye care accessible, affordable and trusted.

Today, Apex Optics is far more than an optical retailer. We are a regional healthcare organisation providing comprehensive eye examinations, medical optometry, diagnostic imaging, low vision rehabilitation, contact lens services, occupational vision care and prescription eyewear through modern clinics staffed by highly qualified professionals.

Our work extends beyond our clinics. We partner with employers, insurers, governments, schools, NGOs and development organisations to improve access to quality eye care, strengthen preventive eye health and support healthier, more productive communities. Innovation is central to how we work. We continue to invest in advanced diagnostic technologies, digital practice management and artificial intelligence to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience. Alongside our clinical services, our social responsibility programmes provide free and subsidised eye care for underserved communities, including people with albinism, schoolchildren, senior citizens and individuals living with visual impairment. As we continue to grow, our ambition is to become the most trusted and professionally managed independent eye care organisation in West Africa.
