Donal Ryan

Donal Ryan has worked in the FoodTech, AgTech and Biotech sector since 2017 as a Consultant (Technology | Scale-Up | Financing). In 2009, they co-founded and became CEO of Equinome, a novel animal genomics company, and was responsible for its setup and launch. Donal established Equinome as a world-leader in the development of complex predictive equine genomic tests, and led the company through to its successful exit to Plusvital in 2015. Donal was then appointed COO for Plusvital, working on the strategic development of an integrated, multi-disciplinary equine sciences company while directing operations and sales. Prior to this, Donal Ryan worked as a Lead Process Engineer for Pfizer from 2003 to 2007, and a Bioprocess Design Engineer for Jacobs from 2007 to 2009. Since 2018, they have been a Venture Partner for Finistere Ventures, LLC, an international venture capital firm, managing EU activities from their office in Dublin, Ireland. Donal also holds Non Executive Director roles for Invert Robotics since 2020 and ApisProtect since 2019.

Donal Ryan obtained a BE in School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering from University College Dublin between 1999 and 2003. Donal then returned to University College Dublin from 2008 to 2009 and obtained an MBA. Donal is currently working towards a Diploma in Corporate Finance from Chartered Accountants Ireland, which they began in 2014.
