Appalachian Convergence Lab (AppCoLab) is building regional infrastructure for the future of mental health.

We develop the tools, systems, and pathways that enable psychedelic and frontier mental health innovation to be delivered safely, effectively, and at scale in Appalachia.

Today, over 26 million people across 592 universities and thousands of healthcare systems in Appalachia remain largely disconnected from emerging research, education, and care. Due to unclear pathways, regulatory uncertainty, resource allocation and absence of trusted regional infrastructure.

AppCoLab exists to close that gap.

We operate at the intersection of mind, medicine, and law, building a connected pipeline that moves institutions and professionals from awareness to implementation through:

• Events — convening stakeholders across healthcare, academia, policy, and community
• Training — preparing a workforce for responsible, compliant engagement
• Data — generating region-specific insights through public perception surveys and historical analysis
• Advisory — supporting institutions in designing and launching real-world programs

Our work bridges national momentum with regional execution, partnering with leaders across the psychedelic ecosystem while building infrastructure rooted in Appalachian culture, needs, and opportunity.

We are Community Fellows with the University Psychedelic Education Partnership (UPEP) and have engaged with organizations including MAPS Psychedelic Science, The Pearl Institute, ETSU Reece Museum, Chacruna Institute, and the Appalachian Studies Association.

Our goal is simple:

Build a model for how emerging mental health innovation can be implemented responsibly, equitably, and at scale in Appalachia and beyond.
