Joseph McPherson has a diverse work experience spanning from 2016 to the present. Joseph served as a Team Leader at the UK Ministry of Defence from 2016 to 2021. Following that, they worked as a Senior Simulation Engineer at Elbit Systems UK, where they were responsible for installation, maintenance, and support of large-scale simulators. In 2021, they became the Head of Global IT & Infrastructure at ARRACO Global Markets Ltd, managing the IT strategy and digital transformation initiatives for a commodity trading firm. Joseph then joined Zeelo as the Head of Information Technology, establishing the IT function and overseeing security and compliance. In 2022, they founded Empiris, a recruitment agency focused on supporting veterans in the UK tech sector. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Information Security Officer at Apperio.
Joseph McPherson attended the Defence College of Intelligence (U.K. Ministry of Defence) from 2017 to 2018. Joseph also attended the Defence School of Communications and Information Systems (DSCIS) during the same time period, where they obtained a degree in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications. Prior to that, they attended Oxted School Sixth Form, where they pursued A Levels in Computing, History, Communications & Culture. Lastly, they completed their GCSE's at Oxted School. In terms of certifications, Joseph obtained the NCSP Digital Business Risk Awareness certification from APMG International in 2023, the Fortinet Network Security Expert Level 1: Certified Associate certification from Fortinet in 2020, the Fortinet Network Security Expert Level 2: Certified Associate certification from Fortinet in 2020, and the Advanced First Aid & CPR certification from Physical Education Scotland in 2019.
