Jeff Ryan

Jeff Ryan has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Jeff is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at Appfire. In 2020, they also became the Principal Owner of Riverside Acres Design LLC, where they help customers define, design, and develop software solutions, specializing in distributed solutions that integrate and manage remote assets.

Prior to these roles, Jeff worked at Digi International from 2003 to 2020, where they held multiple positions. Jeff started as a Technologist and Senior Software Engineer, developing user interfaces for Digi's networking products and embedded remote display products. Jeff then became a Senior Solutions Architect, creating remote monitoring and control solutions for customers dealing with various remote equipment. Jeff later became the Technologist and development lead for Digi's Device Cloud, a platform that connects customers with their remote assets. There, they also developed the embedded remote display product known as Anywhere Display.

Jeff also worked at Imation/Kodak Polychrome Graphics as a Senior Software Engineer from 2000 to 2003. Jeff worked on designing and developing distributed print management solutions for the Matchprint color proofing systems.

Before that, they worked at IBM from 1988 to 2000, starting as a Programmer and later becoming an Advisory Programmer. Jeff led teams in developing server infrastructure and user tooling for IBM's SanFrancisco Business Application Framework. Jeff also led the development of performance analysis toolsets for AS/400 systems.

Jeff's early work experience includes being a Software Engineer at Mayo Clinic from 1985 to 1988, where they developed Electronic Computer Aided Design software for the Department of Defense, focusing on logic simulation.

Jeff Ryan obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Bemidji State University, where they also completed minors in Physics and Mathematics. Jeff later pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Distributed Systems at the University of Minnesota.
