Cheng Chen is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in display technologies, currently serving as the Senior Director at Apple since April 2006, overseeing Panel, Process & Optics and Display Incubation. Prior roles at Apple include Director of Display Optics and Platform Technologies and Manager of iPad display modules and Optics Platform Technology for iPhone, iPad, and Mac displays. Cheng began the career as a Display Engineer, contributing to key projects such as iPod nano and MacBook display modules. Additionally, Cheng has been active in the Society For Information Display since 2006, serving as Program Chair for SID 2016. Prior to Apple, Cheng worked as a Liquid Crystal Physicist at Steridian Corporation, focusing on LC optical components for UV-addressed LCoS technology. Cheng holds a B.S. in Applied Chemistry from Peking University and a Ph.D. in Liquid Crystal Physics/Optics from Kent State University.
