Derek Young possesses extensive experience in various engineering roles with a focus on sensor technologies and health applications. Beginning as a Lincoln Scholar at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Derek fabricated microfluidic particle sensors and developed embedded systems for low-power sensor networks. At Apple, Derek progressed from Research and Development Engineer to Research Scientist and Engineering Manager, leading cross-functional teams in hardware prototyping and clinical studies to enhance health technologies. Prior experience includes significant contributions at Sandia National Laboratories in wireless communications and digital hardware design. Derek holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and a Bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley.
