Gregory McMurtrie

Gregory McMurtrie is a sensor system architect at Apple, bringing over 10 years of research experience in atomic-scale magnetism, cryogenic and ultra-high vacuum systems, and microwave electronics. Previously, as a research assistant at the University of Stuttgart from 2017 to 2022, they designed and built experiments focusing on single atom precision and developed modular automation architecture for efficient measurement. Gregory earned a Master of Science with distinction and a PhD in Physics from the University of Hamburg and the University of Stuttgart, respectively, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from The University of British Columbia. They are also skilled in public speaking in English, Spanish, and German, addressing both lay and expert audiences.
