Hongli Dai

Distinguished Engineer, Director of Hardware Technology

Hongli Dai is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in materials science and battery technology. From 1994 to 1999, Hongli Dai served as a Research Associate at Los Alamos National Laboratory, followed by a tenure as a Senior Research Engineer at DuPont from 1999 to 2007, where Hongli Dai focused on developing innovative materials for lithium-ion polymer batteries and fuel cells. Hongli Dai then founded a lithium-ion battery startup in Silicon Valley, securing $12.5 million in Series A venture capital funding from 2006 to 2009. Since May 2009, Hongli Dai has held the position of Distinguished Engineer and Director of Hardware Technology at Apple, contributing significantly to advancements in hardware technologies. Hongli Dai earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1998.
