Ian Shapiro

Ian Shapiro is currently an Engineering Manager in Health ML at Apple, where they lead an engineering incubation team focused on developing machine learning methodologies for health sensing applications. With a rich background in chemical physics, Ian earned a PhD from the California Institute of Technology, where their research explored photophysical properties of semiconductor quantum dots and single-molecule microscopy. They previously worked as a Sensor Analysis Lead at C8 MediSensors, managing algorithm development for innovative medical devices, and served as an Adjunct Professor at Occidental College, where they lectured in chemistry and trained undergraduate students in advanced microscopy techniques. Ian's expertise encompasses over a decade of experience in R&D across various scientific domains, combining analytical programming skills with a talent for creative problem-solving.
