James Samir Ismail, PhD, currently serves as a Distinguished Engineer in Control Architecture at Apple, where they have been since 2020. Prior to this, they held various positions throughout their career, including Sr. Controls Engineer at Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. and Owner of t.enable, where they developed innovative nano positioning technology. James began their engineering career at Astro Aerospace, contributing to dynamic analysis and control system design for the International Space Station Mobile Transporter program. They earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Control Theory from UC Santa Barbara in 1997.
