Michael Xu

Michael Xu currently serves as the Engineering Director for the Search and Machine Learning Platform at Apple, overseeing teams responsible for key products such as Siri and Safari. Prior to joining Apple in March 2024, Michael Xu held several engineering leadership roles at Google from November 2014 to March 2024, including Senior Director of Engineering, where responsibilities included leading the Data Indexing and Semantic Understanding teams and developing platforms that support critical Google services. Earlier experience includes a role as Engineering Director in Google's GPI organization and a foundational role in the Search Infrastructure team. Michael Xu began a career in technology with an internship at IBM and holds both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Technology from Tsinghua University, obtained in 2006 and 2003, respectively.
