Phil Sonn

Phil (Hyojin) Sonn is a data scientist at Apple specializing in causal inference and econometric modeling, with a strong empirical research background in economics. They earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington, where they also served as a teaching assistant, instructing courses in computational finance and economics. Prior to Apple, Phil worked at Moody's Analytics as an Associate and then Assistant Director focused on credit risk modeling for commercial real estate. Their earlier experiences include serving as a training specialist in the Republic of Korea Army and as a research intern at the Korea Development Institute.
