Firmware Engineer

Scot Salmon is an experienced software engineer with a background in embedded systems and software architecture. Salmon began a professional career as a consultant at John Leslie Consulting from 1989 to 1992 and interned at Kimball Physics in 1992. Subsequently, Salmon held various engineering positions at NI (National Instruments) from 2012 to 2018, contributing as a Principal Software Architect and leading numerous projects, including the transition to embedded real-time Linux and the adoption of DevOps practices. Following this, Salmon worked as a Principal Software Design Engineer at CesiumAstro from January 2021 to June 2024. Currently, Salmon is serving as a Firmware Engineer at Apple, starting in August 2025. Educationally, Salmon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Rice University between 1993 and 1997.
