Wonchang Chung

Wonchang Chung is a seasoned professional in machine learning and data science, currently serving as a Senior Machine Learning and Data Scientist at Apple since November 2023 within the System Intelligence and Machine Learning group. Prior to this, Wonchang worked at Microsoft as a Senior Data and Applied Scientist, focusing on machine learning, data engineering, and MLOps from July 2021 to November 2023. Experience at Element AI as a Senior Applied Research Scientist involved significant contributions to natural language processing, including speech systems, information extraction, and deep learning applications. Additional internship experience at Siemens emphasized natural language processing research, and earlier roles at Samsung Electronics involved innovations in display technology and team leadership for large-scale product developments. Wonchang holds a Master’s degree in Natural Language Processing from Columbia University, a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University.
