Zirui Wang

Research Scientist

Zirui Wang is an accomplished research scientist with a robust background in artificial intelligence and machine learning. At Apple from February 2023 to September 2024, Zirui led the development of the Apple Foundation Model Framework and served as a founding member of the Apple Foundation Models team, overseeing the post-training pillar. Prior to this, Zirui worked at xAI from September 2024 to March 2025 as a member of the technical staff, focusing on human data and post-training for Grok3. Zirui's experience at Google from May 2020 to February 2023 included co-inventing key technologies in multimodal understanding and generation, as well as contributing to the development of the PaLM2 language model and synthetic data generation methods. Zirui holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Language and Information Technologies and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, both from Carnegie Mellon University.
