AppleOak FibreWorks Ltd. is an independent dye studio and textile company based in County Clare, Ireland, founded by Jennifer and Tristan Lienhard.

Rooted in natural colour, craftsmanship and ecology, AppleOak creates and supplies sustainable textiles, yarns, wearables and dye materials, while running The Natural Dyers & Growers Academy (NDGA) — a professional learning platform dedicated to natural dyeing and regenerative textile practice.

In our studio, we dye small-batch fibres, yarns, garments and accessories using only plant-based colours and gentle, circular systems: harvested rainwater, reed-bed filtration, composting and solar energy. Our long-term goal is to grow and extract all our own dyes, building a fully self-sufficient colour supply through ongoing woad and Persicaria pigment trials.

Our product range includes naturally dyed and undyed socks, hand-dyed shawls, yarns and fabrics — crafted for comfort, longevity and connection to the natural world.

Through the NDGA, we share this knowledge with an international community of dyers, artists and educators. The Academy offers the One-Year Professional Natural Dyeing Course and a growing selection of shorter specialist programmes, talks and collaborative events. Students work from their own homes and studios, combining science, craft and ecology to build their own professional dye practice.

Together, AppleOak and NDGA form a living system — from soil to colour, from fibre to finished work — connecting production, education and sustainable innovation in one place.
