Biffrey Braxton

Co-Founder & COO at Applied Development

As Chief Operating Officer, Biffrey Braxton exists in two worlds: qualitative and quantitative; left-brain and right-brain; technology-focused and human-centered. This ability to embrace opposing ideas characterizes Biffrey’s career, service to the community, and approach to life.

Biffrey began his career working at a technology consulting startup. Success there led to consulting for IBM at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, and William Mercer & Co. at Alcatel and BellSouth. At the same time, Biffrey nurtured his creativity, writing music and performing. Biffrey left the security of corporate positions to work with and lead startups solving business problems in the diverse areas of insurance, real estate finance, reverse engineering search algorithms, marketing, and communications. This diversity in topics and problems to solve allowed Biffrey to create products and tools that are both useful and beautiful.

He continues to share his time and resources by serving organizations like House of Ruth Maryland, The Eubie Blake National Jazz, and Education Center, and by mentoring small business owners. Biffrey currently serves on the Board of Directors of Midtown Community Benefits District. He also actively volunteers with House of Ruth Maryland and The Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center.

Since co-founding Applied Development in 2011 with Kimberly Citizen, they have changed the model for contractors interfacing with government, humanizing the process. Applied Development focuses on designing a better tomorrow for customers and employees alike. At Applied Development, he focuses on business process improvement and believes that clear and capable management increases client satisfaction and leads to better working relationships.
