Robert Crane has a diverse work experience starting in 2013 as a Nuclear Submarine Officer in the US Navy, where they managed administrative and auditing programs. In 2017, they joined Bluefin Robotics as an Advanced Software Engineer, leading a multidisciplinary team in the design and integration of vehicle software and equipment. Robert then worked at Zoox from 2018 to 2022 as a Software Engineer, specializing in planning and control. Currently, they are employed at Applied Intuition as an Engineer.

Robert Crane attended the United States Naval Academy from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science. In 2010 to 2011, they also pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals. Additionally, Robert Crane obtained several certifications, including a Self Driving Car Nanodegree from Udacity in July 2019, a Probabilistic Graphical Models 1: Representation (with Honors) certificate from Coursera Course Certificates in January 2017, and a Machine Learning certificate from Coursera Course Certificates in August 2016. Robert also holds a Prospective Nuclear Engineering Officer certification from Naval Reactors in November 2015. Robert Crane has completed multiple edX courses, including Distributed Machine Learning with Apache Spark, Introduction to Apache Spark, and Statistical Thinking for Data Science and Analytics, for which they have obtained edX Verified Certificates.
