Jerry Chen

Jerry Chen has over 25 years of experience in the semiconductor and materials science industries, currently serving as Director and Member of Technical Staff at Applied Materials since January 1997. In this role, Jerry manages Thin Film Encapsulation R&D programs for flexible display applications, overseeing joint development initiatives with key customers and research institutes. Prior positions include Senior Member of Technical Staff, where Jerry contributed to the development of PECVD thin film encapsulation for OLED devices and various hardware and process advancements for TFT-LCD applications. Prior to Applied Materials, Jerry worked as a Staff Scientist at Oryx Technology Corp, where notable achievements included the design of a Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer that received an R&D 100 Award. Jerry holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from National Tsing Hua University.
