John Kania

John Kania is a seasoned professional in government affairs, currently serving as the Managing Director and Head of Global Government Affairs at Applied Materials since June 2020. Kania leads a global team focused on developing and implementing policy strategies that align with corporate goals, while effectively communicating outcomes to senior executives. Prior to this role, Kania held various senior positions in government affairs at Applied Materials from 2007 to 2020, and previously served as Director of Government Relations and Industry Programs at IPC. Kania’s career began in March 1992 at R. Wayne Sayer and Associates, where advocacy strategies for high-tech corporations were developed. Kania holds an MA in Political Management from The George Washington University and a BA in Political Science from Niagara University.
