Matthew McEwan

Principal Engineer at Applied Materials

Matthew McEwan has over 20 years of work experience in engineering and research. Matthew started their career in 1998 with a PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Manchester, specializing in structural dynamics and vibration analysis. Matthew then worked as an Application Engineer at Control Technology Centre Ltd from 2001 to 2002, developing algorithms for statistical process monitoring. From 2003 onwards, they worked as a Principal Engineer at Perceptive Engineering Ltd, leading large-scale process improvement projects and implementing innovative statistical process control and monitoring technologies. In 2020, they joined Applied Materials as a Principal Engineer.

Matthew McEwan earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Canterbury, where they studied from 1995 to 1997. Matthew went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at The University of Manchester, completing their studies between 1998 and 2001. Matthew also holds certification as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) from IET, Inc.
