Yikai Chen is currently the Director of Engineering and a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Applied Materials, having held various roles within the company since 2016. With over 12 years of experience in materials science and coatings research, Yikai specializes in thermal spray coatings, coatings process design, thin-films, and semiconductor manufacturing. Yikai earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and has contributed to academia as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Stony Brook University and as an Assistant Professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
