Simran Kaur

Account Manager at Applied StemCell

Simran Kaur, Ph.D. has extensive experience in the field of biomedical research and genetic engineering. Simran is currently employed at Applied StemCell as an Account Manager since September 2022. Prior to this role, they held the position of Lead Scientist at the same company starting from May 2021.

Previously, Simran worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford University School of Medicine from November 2019 to July 2021. Their research focused on finding a cure for glaucoma using mice as a model system. Simran developed a novel method for genome-wide screening of genes using CRISPR/Cas9 and investigated the role of various genes in optic nerve regeneration and retinal ganglion cell survival through AAV-based gene therapy.

Simran also gained experience as an Internship Trainee at Stanford University from April 2019 to September 2019. During this internship, they worked on a mouse model system to understand the basis of optic nerve and axon regeneration. Simran utilized AAV-gene therapy and CRISPR gene editing technology to modify the expression of key genes and induce axon regeneration in mice.

Overall, Simran's work experience demonstrates their expertise in genetic engineering, gene therapy, and their dedication to finding solutions for optic nerve regeneration and glaucoma.

Simran Kaur, Ph.D. holds a Ph.D. in Life Sciences from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, which they obtained from 2013 to 2018. Prior to their Ph.D., they completed their Master's degree in Biotechnology at Panjab University from 2009 to 2011. Simran also holds a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Panjab University, which they attained from 2006 to 2009.
