Haitham Amar

Haitham Amar, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in data strategy, analytics, and education. Since 2019, they have been the Head of Data Strategy and Analytics at ApplyBoard. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Data Science & Analytics at ApplyBoard from 2019 to 2022. Haitham was also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo starting from 2019. In addition, they worked as a Big Data Instructor at McMaster University Centre for Continuing Education from 2018 to 2023. Before their academic roles, Haitham was a Lead Data Scientist at IMS (part of Trak Global Group) from 2016 to 2019. Haitham also gained experience as a Lab Instructor at the University of Waterloo from 2010 to 2016. Prior to their academic career, Haitham held the position of Head of Technology, CTO, at El-Majed for Computers and Information Technology in Libya from 2006 to 2009. Haitham'sresponsibilities included leading a team to build data centers across the country, serving sectors such as banking, national airlines, and oil and gas.

Haitham Amar, PhD, has a strong educational background in computer engineering and pattern analysis and machine intelligence. In 2006, they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Tripoli. Haitham further pursued their studies at the University of Waterloo, completing a Master's Degree in Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence from 2010 to 2012. Haitham then continued their academic journey at the same university, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence from 2013 to 2017. Additionally, Haitham has obtained several certifications in various areas, including management foundations and cloud services.
