Brian Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Brian began their career at Hewlett Packard in 1990, where they worked as an R&D Project Manager and played a key role in the development of HP's communications test products. Brian was also instrumental in the establishment and growth of HP's Vancouver product development center. In 1999, Smith joined Agilent Technologies as an R&D Section Manager, leading the software/hardware R&D team and contributing to the growth of Agilent's internet routing test business. Brian also served as a product manager and a business team leader. Smith then moved on to McKesson in 2010, where they worked as a Senior R&D Project Manager, overseeing the definition and delivery of new feature releases for the McKesson Radiology Manager product line. Brian managed cross-functional product teams and ensured compliance with healthcare software system requirements. From 2012 to 2015, Smith worked at NetApp as a Senior Manager of Software Engineering, where they led the development of large-scale storage volume capabilities and managed distributed group features. Brian also served as a product owner and scrum master, driving continuous improvement in Agile practices. In 2016, Smith joined Aquatic Informatics Inc. as a Senior Manager of Product Development, where they led the development of the flagship water data management product line, AQUARIUS Time-Series. Brian focused on ensuring regular product releases, improving release predictability, quality, and productivity, and balancing competing business priorities. Most recently, Smith worked at AppNeta as a Product Manager, starting in 2017.

Brian Smith has a Master of Mathematics degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo. Brian also holds a Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) degree in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba. Additionally, Brian has a certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute. Furthermore, they have pursued further education in Business to Business Marketing at Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management.
