Nathan Boyd

Senior Software and Controls Engineer at Apptronik

Nathan Boyd has been working in the field of robotics since 2016. Nathan started their career as a Robotics Teacher at Great Minds Robotics. In 2017, they took on the role of Research Assistant at the Robotics and Biomedical Engineering Laboratory, where they led a team of 25 to design bio-inspired multi-legged robots. Nathan then moved to Systems Engineering Research Laboratory (SERL) in 2016, where they were a Drone Researcher and Lab Manager. In 2018, they joined AeroVironment as an Embedded Systems Engineer. In 2019, they were a Robotics Research Scientist at HRL Laboratories, LLC and a Robotics Consultant. In 2020, they became a Research Engineer at Georgia Tech Research Institute and Laboratory for Intelligent Decision and Autonomous Robots (LIDAR Lab). Currently, they are a Senior Software and Controls Engineer at Apptronik, where they are responsible for control and motion planning problems for high DoF systems, full stack software architecture design, leading the autonomy pipeline, and managing requirements for the software & control.

Nathan Boyd holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering/Robotics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Northridge. Nathan also holds a Machinist certification from California State University, Northridge.
