Apsley Paper Trail is a charitable trust that was founded to share the unique industrial heritage of papermaking in the Gade Valley, and to preserve Frogmore Paper Mill, the world’s oldest mechanised paper mill.
Apsley Paper Trail operates Frogmore as a museum, a working paper mill for artisan papers, and an education and community hub for a variety of events and workshops. We curate The Michael Stanyon Archive of papermaking history, and house The Paper Trail Heritage Fire Brigade of historic appliances.
We also rent out space in the John Dickinson Enterprise Centre and Apsley Mills Cottage to individuals and small businesses.
After a major fire in 2022, Frogmore Paper Mill re-opened to small tour groups in October 2025, although work to restore the site is ongoing with the invaluable assistance of our volunteer team.
