Raquel Sousa

Raquel Sousa is a seasoned professional in the creative arts field, currently serving as Senior Manager of Creative Art at Aptara since June 2010, where responsibilities include art development and coordination for K12 educational products, along with extensive experience in commissioning and licensing art from a global network of artists. Prior to this role, Raquel worked as Photo Researcher and Permissions Project Manager at Pre-PressPMG (now Luminada Datamatics) from June 2009 to July 2010, managing photo research and permissions for college textbooks while ensuring quality assurance and rights management. Raquel's earlier career includes a tenure at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt from 1994 to 2008, where as Illustration Manager, oversight included in-house and outsourced art buying projects for various K12 materials, alongside experience as an art buyer involved in researching and directing illustrators. Raquel holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design.
