Matthew Richards is the current Chief Marketing Officer at Aqua Security. Matthew has held this position since July 2021. Prior to this, they were the Chief Marketing Officer at Datto, Inc. from July 2016 to July 2021. During their time at Datto, they led marketing for the MSP Technology Company, including brand strategy, product marketing, demand gen, field marketing, creative services, market and competitive intel, and communications. Matthew also wrote the S1 for October 2020 listing of Datto (MSP) on the NYSE.
From January 2012 to June 2016, Richards was the VP, Products and Markets at ownCloud. Matthew was responsible for commercializing new open source enterprise software, including business and market strategy, market plans, backlogs, roadmaps, pre-sales and delivery, product positioning, and other things that come up at a start-up.
Before joining ownCloud, Richards was the Sr Director, Product Marketing at CA from April 2010 to January 2012. In this role, they were responsible for the strategy and execution of product marketing initiatives across CA's product portfolio.
From May 2008 to April 2010, Richards was the Director, Emerging Technology Marketing at Novell. In this role, they were responsible for defining and executing Novell's emerging technology marketing strategy.
Prior to Novell, Richards was a Managing Consultant, Strategy and Change at IBM Global Services from July 2004 to April 2008. In this role, they consulted with clients on organizational change and transformation projects.
Before joining IBM, Richards was a Project Manager/Consultant at American Management Systems from August 1998 to July 2002. In this role, they managed large-scale technology implementation projects for government and commercial clients.
Matthew Richards started their educational career by obtaining a BA/BE in Mechanical Engineering from Dartmouth College. Matthew then went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Sciences from the same school. After working for a few years, they decided to further their education by obtaining an MBA in New Product and Venture Development from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
