John Pena

John Pena is an experienced geologist with a comprehensive background in unconventional exploration and reservoir characterization. Currently serving as a Senior Unconventional Exploration Geologist for Saudi Aramco since April 2015, John coordinates regional geological studies aimed at identifying and characterizing gas plays in North Arabia. Prior experience includes roles at ConocoPhillips as a Senior Geologist, focusing on oil sands, and at Canadian Natural Resources Limited, where John was involved in detailed geological studies of thermal oil sands. Additional expertise encompasses various positions with Total E&P, GR Petrology Consultants, and earlier roles in hydrogeology and geological mapping in Colombia. John holds a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Calgary, a specialization in Hydrology from Universidad de la República, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
