Michael Johnston is an experienced engineering professional with a strong focus on bridge and civil structures asset management and design. Currently serving as an Associate Technical Director at Arcadis since June 2022, Michael provides advisory services to clients and leads project teams. Previously, as Principal Bridge Engineer and South West Team Lead, Michael established the Southwest Civil Structures Team, expanding it to 11 structural engineers. Michael's tenure at Beca from April 2018 to April 2022 included roles such as Associate (Structural Engineering) and Senior Structural Engineer, overseeing project management and asset management while leading engineering teams. Earlier experience at Arcadis from September 2012 to March 2018 involved designing and assessing structures and project management within a PSC framework. Michael holds a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Birmingham, completed in 2012, and A levels in Mathematics, Physics, and Geography from Sidmouth College.
