Ankit Gupta

Principal Bioprocess Scientist II at Arcellx

Ankit Gupta, Ph.D. has worked in various research and scientific roles throughout their career. Ankit started their career as a Summer Intern at ICGEB, where they developed a comprehensive database and utilized the "Codon shuffling" method for generating denovo proteins and peptides. Ankit then moved on to IGIB, where they worked as a Summer Intern and focused on the purification of phosphotransferase and cloning of negative regulator phosphatase genes from Bacillus anthracis.

After completing their undergraduate degree, Ankit joined the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, where they worked on multiple research projects. Ankit later continued their research work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the same institute, focusing on the role of a novel domain in SF1/U2AF complex formation and 3' splice site recognition. During this time, they utilized various techniques such as NMR, ITC, X-ray crystallography, and small-angle X-ray scattering to study the conformational rearrangements in early stages of splicing. Ankit also trained and supervised undergraduate and junior graduate students in biophysics instrumentation and protein purification.

Ankit then joined the University of Rochester as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they continued their research on the SF1/U2AF complex and contributed to the development of fluorescence-based EMSA assays and protein labeling methods. Ankit also trained undergraduate and junior graduate students in biophysics instrumentation and protein purification techniques.

After completing their Ph.D., Ankit worked at NYU Langone Health as a Research Scientist, focusing on their research in epigenetic regulation using designer binding proteins. Ankit then joined Arcellx, Inc. as a Scientist II, where they worked on lead discovery, optimization, and development in the area of CAR-T. Later, they were promoted to Scientist III and most recently held the position of Principal Bioprocess Scientist I at Arcellx, Inc.

During their career, Ankit also worked as a Mentor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, where they mentored undergraduate students from the Department of Biotechnology with career planning, graduate school applications, and job opportunities in the pharma/biotech sector.

Ankit Gupta, Ph.D. earned a B.Tech and M.Tech in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur from 2001 to 2006. Ankit then pursued further studies at the University of Rochester, where they obtained an M.S. in Biophysics from 2006 to 2008, followed by a Ph.D. in Biophysics and Structural Biology from 2006 to 2011. In addition, they have obtained various certifications in statistical analysis and data-driven decision making from SAS in 2020.
