Thomas Sourmail

Thomas Sourmail is currently the Head of the Steelmaking Department at ArcelorMittal, a position they have held since 2024. They spent three years as the R&D Director at ASCOMETAL from 2021 to 2024 and previously managed a research group at Ascometal from 2006 to 2021. Thomas began their academic journey at the University of Lille 1 Sciences and Technology, where they obtained an Ingenieur degree in Materials and a DEA in Solid State Physics before completing a PhD in Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge. They also served as a Research Assistant at the University of Cambridge from 2002 to 2004 and worked as a Project Leader at TWI from 2005 to 2006.
