Bob Egan has been a lawyer at Archer since 1977, and is the Chairperson of the firm’s Commercial and Business Litigation Group. Bob has concentrated his practice in business-related litigation in the state and federal courts in New Jersey and in other jurisdictions, with significant experience in complex litigation involving the computer and high technology sectors, intellectual property, copyright and trademark infringement, trade secrets, restrictive employment covenants, franchise, anti-trust and trade regulation, commercial, contract, and class action issues, as well as in cases concerning corporate governance, shareholder and partner disputes. Bob also serves as the Chair of Archer’s Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Group, focusing his practice in that area on cybersecurity counseling and data breach response.

As a result of his involvement in complex litigation, Bob is well-versed in automated litigation support systems and the latest e-discovery technology and legal developments. He serves as the chair of Archer Discovery Strategies, the Firm’s internal group dedicated to eDiscovery issues and practice and implementing computerized systems and workflows to manage litigation-related documents and information and improve the efficient handling of litigated matters.

In addition to handling high value complex litigation, Bob has litigated more routine commercial disputes in a wide range of substantive areas. He is a member of the Firm’s Employment Competition and Information Protection Group, which focuses on issues that arise from the potential and actual defection of employees to competitors, including non-competition, non-solicitation and non-disclosure issues, as well as matters concerning trade secret and information security, the duty of loyalty, piracy, recruitment and other business torts. Bob is also the past Chair of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Group, and handles a variety of intellectual property litigation matters.
