Severin Heiniger has worked in a variety of roles since 2010. In 2010, they worked as an Assistant in the Computer Science Library at ETH Zurich. In 2011, they worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Ergon Informatik AG, where they were the main engineer on an automated personnel planning system for a large retailer. In 2013, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at ETH Zurich, and as a Web Developer (Part-Time) at Vifor Pharma, where they maintained and improved an internal Django web app. Severin then joined Google in 2014 as a Software Engineer (Google Maps), where they were the technical lead of Maps Timeline on Android and a reviewer and code health steward across all of Maps on Android. In 2017, they moved to the Institute of Medical Virology, University of Zurich, where they invented and built a modern web app for 100s of hospitals & practices across Switzerland. Severin then returned to Google in 2017 as a Senior Software Engineer (Google Lens) and Staff Software Engineer (Google Lens), where they bootstrapped Multisearch and led the development of a novel version of Google Lens for Android Go. Currently, they are a Technical Lead at Archlet.
Severin Heiniger has an education history that includes a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science with honors from ETH Zürich, obtained in 2014, as well as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science from ETH Zürich, obtained in 2011. Severin has also obtained three certifications: Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera in July 2021, Machine Learning from Coursera in March 2021, and Architecting with Google Compute Engine Specialization from Coursera in October 2020.
