Byron Wang

Byron Wang is the Product/Head of Engineering at Ardius. Byron was previously the Vice President of Engineering at Spokeo from August 2013 to October 2020. Byron was responsible for full-stack web development of the main web site (Ruby on Rails, Angular, React, Node, CSS, HTML, MySQL), web admin tools, payments, analytics (Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, Google Analytics), and mobile applications (Android, iOS).

Byron oversaw the transition from waterfall to scrum-based development process with 8 cross-functional teams and 55+ total members. Byron initiated site monitoring and alerting infrastructure via NewRelic and Amazon CloudWatch, team-based post deploy monitoring, and pre-deploy email notifications that improved site uptime to 99.998%.

Byron transitioned from a manual-only testing process to continuous integration (Jenkins, rspec) with 5,000 unit tests run per commit and 4,000 integration tests running daily. Byron transitioned from monolithic application to service-oriented architecture with six separate services handling payments, crawling, customer care, affiliate, and core data.

Byron optimized page load time and server response time for billions of search results pages, achieving 95+ Google PageSpeed scores. Byron achieved a twenty-fold reduction in server response time for core search results pages by serving cached HTML (Node.js, Amazon EFS).
