Ed Cates

Ed Cates has a long and varied work experience. Ed began their career in 1996 as a Research Assistant at Argonne National Laboratory. In 2000, they moved to CPlane, Inc. as an IT Manager, where they were responsible for server management, desktop support, remote support, and infrastructure growth planning. In 2003, they joined Purdue University College of Science as a Systems Administrator, where they led the design, implementation, maintenance, and support for IT network infrastructure. In 2012, they moved to Ivy Tech Community College as a Systems Engineer II, where they initiated, implemented, and migrated 30K+ users and 500K+ tickets to a new Perl-based helpdesk system. In 2014, they joined Infidati as a Senior Systems Administrator, where they orchestrated scalable IT systems architecture with high availability and reliability. Finally, in 2016, they joined ARDX as a Senior Systems Engineer, where they directed and mentored a team of system engineers and advised developers to deliver IT infrastructure projects on time and within budget. In 2021, they joined NextGen Healthcare as a Cloud/Infrastructure Systems Staff Engineer.

Ed Cates obtained a B.S. in Wildlife Conservation from Missouri State University between 1990 and 1996. In October 2020, they obtained an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification from Amazon Web Services.
