The ancient Greeks described as areté a person’s use of all their faculties, skills and abilities to attain excellence:  the highest level of effectiveness.  Ethike areté (or moral excellence) is the concept at the heart of Aristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics.  We believe areté captures well the nature and objective of a fully-functioning, effective compliance program.
