Irene B. is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in financial controls and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). Currently serving as AVP of IT GRC and AVP of the Financial Controls Group at Argo Group since January 2020, Irene previously worked at AIG from July 2011 to January 2020 as Assistant Director of Financial Control, leading SOX/MAR initiatives for Life and Retirement. Irene managed SSAE 18 compliance for AIG’s subsidiary VALIC and engaged proactively with auditors. Prior roles include managerial and audit positions at PartnerRe, focusing on internal audits and risk management, as well as auditing roles at Folksamerica and Odyssey Re. Irene holds a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Law from Binghamton University, obtained in 2003.
