Ray Hernan began their work experience in 1985 as an Audit Senior at KPMG. Ray then worked as the Group Chief Accountant at IAWS from 1990 to 1996. Following this, Ray joined Ryanair as the Director of Finance from 1996 to 2006. Ray then served as the CFO at Brown Thomas from 2006 to 2009 and as the Director of Finance at Selfridges from 2009 to 2010. Ray then joined Arnotts as the COO/CFO from 2010 to 2013 and later became the CEO from 2013 to 2015. Ray then moved on to Bus Éireann, where they served as the CFO from 2016 to 2017 and then as the CEO from 2017 to 2018. Most recently, Ray has been working as the CEO of Aer Rianta International since 2018.
Ray Hernan completed their Leaving Cert from Cistercian College, Roscrea in 1982. Ray then went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from University College Dublin from 1982 to 1985. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Advanced Management from Smurfit Business School, which they completed in 1995. Additionally, Ray Hernan attended the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland in an unspecified timeframe, but it is not known if they obtained a degree from there.
