Staff Data Engineer - Technical Lead at Arkose

Albert Cheng has a diverse work experience. Albert started their career as a UX Designer Intern at the Australian Taxation Office in 2010. Albert later worked as a Court Reporter at Spark & Cannon in 2010-2011. Albert then returned to the Australian Taxation Office and took on roles such as Law Graduate & Legal Officer, Executive Assistant to Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Public Groups & International, and Transfer Pricing Analyst. In 2019, they joined ERM Power (now Shell Energy) as a Data Engineer and worked on migrating data infrastructure to AWS and developing electricity/gas forecasting systems. In 2021, they joined Shell Energy Australia as a Data Engineer and Data Analyst, where they established DataOps and DevOps standards and practices. Currently, Albert is working at Arkose Labs as a Staff Data Engineer - Technical Lead, responsible for leading their global Data Analytics and Engineering team, managing multiple business-critical systems, and overseeing customer billing and reporting systems.

Albert Cheng completed their Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from The University of Queensland from 2008 to 2011. Albert then pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Computing from the University of Southern Queensland, which they completed between 2012 and 2013. In addition, they participated in the CPA Australia Program and completed the CPA Foundation Level Program from 2012 to 2014. Albert Cheng obtained several certifications, including Standard First Aid, CPR and AED from First Aid Pro in August 2021, Amazon Web Services Developer - Associate and Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in November and October 2019 respectively, CPA Australia - Associate from CPA Australia in December 2014, and Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate from Microsoft in February 2021.
