Jay Mackey began their career in 1992 as an engineer at Spectra Technologies, Inc., where they designed and built electrical controls, programmed PLC, PC, Machine Vision, and Motion Control systems, and programmed Robotics systems. In 2004, they moved to ARM Automation, Inc., where they continued their work as an engineer, specializing in Electrical Controls Design, light Mechanical Design, Robotics Simulation, Robotics Programming, HMI Programming, VB. NET Programming, Machine Vision specification, design, configuration, and programming, and PLC programming in IEC61131 languages, A-B PLC programming in Ladder, ST, & SFC.

Jay Mackey has attended both Texas Tech University and Tyler Junior College.
