David Lutz is a Fellow at Arm, where they lead the design and implementation of arithmetic units for GPUs and high-end CPUs, specializing in high-performance IEEE-754 compliant floating-point units. With over 20 years at Arm, David has designed eight different FPU microarchitectures and significantly advanced low power and machine learning arithmetic. Preceding their tenure at Arm, David held engineering positions at Motorola Semiconductor and Bell Laboratories, contributing to various software and hardware projects. David obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Ohio State University and holds multiple degrees in Mathematics from Penn State University and Bucknell University.
