Arnaldo Caprai is the acknowledged leader in the production of top quality Sagrantino di Montefalco, a wine produced totally from grapes of Sagrantino, the variety that it’s been growing in the region of Montefalco for more than four hundred years.In spite of this tradition of wine made from Sagrantino, Caprai has researched and improved its expression ever since he took charge of the vineyard in 1988.
Planting density and training systems are constantly being updated.  Cellar facilities have been modernized.  All of his energy has been focused on improving the quality on every level without compromising the old traditions. Ongoing clonal research in conjunction with the University of Milano remains a priority and  commitment for Caprai.  Caprai defines his own philosophy of territory, tradition and innovation.  That he has come this far can be confirmed by the amazing reviews he continues to receive in Italy, recently being named by the Milano Finanza as the top Italian wine, and abroad garnering 97 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and "Five Stars" from Decanter.
