Based in New York City, and Europe, Artemisia Gold is a 501 (c) (3) organization that is committed to the restoration, preservation, education, and sharing of European painting from the 16th and 17th centuries. Artemisia Gold is leading restorations of masterworks with a focus on forgotten female artists such as Artemisia Gentileschi, one of the Baroque era’s boldest voices, and Suor Plautilla Nelli, Florence’s first recognized woman painter. These restorations, analytical research, and education about such projects do more than reveal color and form; they recover identity. Beneath centuries of darkened varnish lie the forgotten signatures of women who shaped art history. Every brushstroke uncovered tells a human story, bringing to light the identities of women who once dared to create and were later erased. Artemisia Gold works with renowned experts in the fields of art, history, and restoration. Conservation work is made possible with the support of individuals, foundations, and corporations that share our belief that art builds bridges across cultures.

Over the past four years, Artemisia Gold has restored paintings by celebrated artists, provided analytical and historical research, and published research information on them. Paintings such as these are in urgent need of restoration.

Artemisia Gold aims to uncover, preserve, and celebrate these lost artistic treasures while bringing such artists into the cultural spotlight through promotion, events, and education. With a newly created 501c3, it is our goal to advance arts education advocacy in America, as well as around the world.

With a focus on historical context and local community engagement, Artemisia Gold aims to tell the true story of these artists and create a dynamic platform where art restoration, history, and education intersect, sparking discussion and fostering further insights.
