Michael Caster

Michael Caster is an experienced professional specializing in human rights advocacy and program management across Asia. Currently serving as the Asia Digital Program Manager at ARTICLE 19 since January 2021, Caster also co-founded and holds the position of Senior Advisor at Safeguard Defenders. Previous roles include Research Consultant at Minority Rights Group International, contributing to impactful publications from 2015 to 2022, and Asia Program Officer at Civil Rights Defenders. Caster's extensive experience also includes advisory roles with the Chinese Urgent Action Working Group and research fellowship at the International Commission of Jurists. Academically, Caster holds a Master's of Art in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, an MA in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from Utrecht University, and a BA in Political Science and East Asian Studies from Western Washington University.
