The Artificial Life Institute (ALI) is the world’s only non-profit research organization dedicated exclusively to the field of artificial life (ALife), based in Kyoto, Japan.

Inspired by how life has evolved through diversity and symbiosis, ALI’s mission is to explore a future in which humans and AI continue to co-evolve and collaborate.

From its newly established research hub in Kyoto, ALI aims to generate next-generation technological innovations that go beyond the limits of today’s AI, while fostering global research networks and future leaders in the field.
