Artisan Studios was founded in 2016 by a small team of video game veterans in Paris, France.  The team relocated to Quebec City in 2017 with the direct support of the city of Quebec and the federal government of Canada. Artisan has grown and now has established four studios worldwide: 1 (HQ) Quebec City, Canada, 2 (Development) Montpellier, France,  3 (Publishing) London, UK and 4 (Development) Riyadh, KSA.    

Artisan is a specialist in the creation of RPG games whose mission is to create the highest quality 2D game studio in the world and become the top western studio developing original IPs to bring Eastern and Western audiences together.  Artisan is one of the last game studios developing console titles by hand drawing and hand animating all of their work.  Artisan has primarily worked in partnership with Japanese developers and publishers to release titles for the Japanese market and then bring those IPs to the west. The multicultural team of 34 developers at Artisan work in fluent Japanese, French, and English.  
 
Artisan’s first announced title was the first 2D entry in the Neptunia series created by Compile Heart and Idea Factory. Super Neptunia RPG was the first time the team at Compile Heart co-developed a new Neptunia title with a western studio.  The game was released in 2018 in Japan and 2019 worldwide on console and PC.  Artisan then developed Astria Ascending, an original IP created with the former writer, composer, character artist and art director of Final Fantasy.  Astria was released worldwide in 2021 on console and PC in partnership with French publisher Dear Villagers.
 
In 2021, Artisan secured seed investment from Tencent Games and is currently developing an unannounced original RPG for console and PC.
